Donations now being accepted!

July 2015 (Before the fire)

Yes, efforts are underway to rebuild the multi-use Skitwish warming hut.
While someone burned it down in November 2016
The "CDA Snowmobile Club" and North Idaho ATV club has joined in the effort
to help get it rebuilt as soon as possible.

When the incident happened, it was too late in the season to
apply for a grant to help with funding of the rebuild.

With help from the recreating community it can and will be done yet this year.
Donations in any amount will help fund the rebuild.

Please help out with a donation to the cause today!

Thank you for your help

$1,000 dollar reward still available!

The Coeur d'Alene Snowmobile Club is offering $1,000 dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) who burned down the Skitwish warming hut!  Any information, please contact the Kootenai County Sheriff and mention this website and advertisement.  The burning of the warming hut is considered arson and a significant crime.  Please help us in putting closure to the incident and setting an example that this kind of behavior is not acceptable.

This is a substantial financial loss and loss for our recreational community.  Here is the article in the Spokesman concerning the news:

The Skitwish Warming Hut burned down sometime between Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. and Nov. 22 at 12:30 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said in a report this evening.

The hut is situated off Forest Service Road 202 near Marie Saddle. That's south of Honeysuckle Campground below Skitwish Peak.

"During this time frame a red or maroon 1990’s Ford Ranger, or similar type pickup, was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed occupied by two people," the Sheriff's report said. "The vehicle was also observed driving around a secured gate in the Wolf Lodge area."

Contact Sgt. Will Klinkefus to offer any information on this event, by email: or by telephone at (208) 446-1300.
