Hawkeye Campout/Trail Maint.

NIATV will be performing trail maintenance on trail 1516 which is up Shoshone Creek up the Coeur d’Alene River above Prichard.  We will camp at the Hawkeye site which is up Shoshone Creek about 5 miles .  Will meet at the campsite at 8:00 AM Thursday July 22 and ride off at 8:15.  Also do the same on Friday and Saturday.  The trail is about 3 miles from the campsite.  Hopefully we can clean up this approx 5 mile trail in three days and do not have to work Sunday morning.

If some people want to come up for the day they can unload at the campsite.  If you think you will get there later then 8:15, let me know before July 19 and I can email you a map of how to get to the trail from the campsite.  Oh, I will have some maps on the fender of the club cargo trailer under a rock that shows how to get to the trail.  This is a 50” max machine width trail.  When it gets too hot we will head back to camp.  It is a paved road all the way to the campsite from I 90 (about 35 miles).

We will have the club maintenance trailer there with all the tools and Rzr.

We did a major trail clean up the summer of 2017.  It was almost brushed closed.  We did a touch up in 2018.   The trail needs a lot of brush cutting!

We will camp at the Hawkeye site which is a flat open area along the road and has room for 25 or more RVs including large motor homes. There is also a Forest Service toilet at the location.   No utilities are available but Shoshone creek is about 100 yards away.  I will have a map available at the club meeting on how to get there, or I can email you one.  Also there will be no club barbecue so bring your own food and water. Lots of water!  We will all be using generators to run our AC.

Some of us are going up Monday July 19, and will ride the area Tuesday and Wednesday.  There are lots of old roads to ride so any width machines are okay for those rides.
